What is Fenugreek?
Fenugreek is a herb that is used as a spice in kitchens. Also, it has been used for a long time in traditional medicine. Its small, yellowish-brown seeds have a slightly bitter flavor. Both the leaves and seeds of fenugreek are tasty and high in nutrients.
Fenugreek grows mainly in India, North Africa, and the Middle East regions. It grows best in warm, dry regions with sandy soil. The tree is planted in the early spring and harvested in the late summer. Fenugreek is rich in vitamins, minerals, and fiber. It contains vitamin B6, iron, and magnesium.
How is Fenugreek cultivated?
Fenugreek seeds grow best in the loose and sandy soil that gets adequate drainage and sunlight. Since it is a delicate crop, the land must first be ploughed and leveled.
It’s important to provide the crop moderate watering, especially during germination. Too little water will harm seedlings and too much water will impede growth. The soil must be moist for this crop to grow.
The fenugreek plants take roughly 3 to 4 months to mature. The pods are ready for harvesting when they become yellow-brown. Following harvest, the seeds are sorted, cleaned, and dried.
