What is Garlic?
Garlic is one of the most used herbs and spices in cooking. Garlic is valued for its distinct aroma, flavor and its super rich health qualities. It belongs to the onion family and is made up of little white cloves with a papery skin.
Garlic can be found all throughout the world, although it grows best in China, India, and the Mediterranean. Garlic grows best in soil that drains well and receives sunlight. Garlic has been used in food and medicine for a very long time.
Garlic is full of nutrients and bioactive compounds. Its components include vitamins C and B6, manganese, and antioxidants. It has traditionally been used to strengthen the body’s defenses against infections, digestion, and immunity.
How is garlic cultivated?
Garlic cloves grow best on soil that is healthy and well-drained. The pointy edges of the cloves are planted facing up. The soil must be leveled and ploughed before cultivation so that the cloves grow healthy.
Garlic needs regular watering, especially during dry seasons. It takes about six to eight months for garlic to mature. The leaves begin to dry out and become brown as the cloves get bigger and are ready to be plucked.
